It was a lovely winters day, and what better way to spend it
than out on the bike? A good number of Club members headed to
Youngs Siding for a coffee, where Dan from Bow River was there
to meet us.
Then up the Denbarker Road before turning left onto Muir Hwy,
then after a short distance down Boyup Road and into Sturdee
Road. It's a right hand bend into Sturdee Road with a lot of
loose gravel on the corner, unfortunately new member Ross (on
his first ride with the Club) lost it on the gravel and ended up
skidding across the road.
He picked the bike up and inspected the damage: scratched
pannier, handlebar and a indicator cancel switch that was
playing up, but the bike was fit to ride. Ross himself did more
damage to his jeans ripping a large hole in the rear and gravel
rash on his bum.
But he took it all in good humour and continued on although he
did spend a lot of time in Kendenup with his jacket
strategically placed. Everyone was interested to hear and see
what happened, so it was a good way to meet people, and they saw
a lot more of him than he bargained for ha ha.
Unfortunately the cafe is shut on Sundays and caught many
unawares, so the splinter group headed off to the Bakery in Mt
Barker for a pie.
After lunch we rode via Woogenellup Road back to Albany in
perfect weather. Thanks for the company, look forward to the
next ride.
