Bunbury Indian Harley Club 2 Day Trial

by Loose Bruce

Some of the 182 historic motorcycles awaiting the start of the fabulous 2 Day Rally.
Me and Kylie entered the 2 day trial again this year, so loaded up the bikes and headed off to Bunbury Friday nite arriving at 7pm. Found the motley crew from Albany set up around the back again. Set up the tent, then cracked a beer and added to the tall stories being told, before crashing in tent.

Our Club’s camp site at the Motocross track, Mike Henderson popped over for a chat.
Up Saturday morning to get our rally pack, coffee and yummy nibbles ready to head off at 10am. Great turnout of the usual suspects and some first-timers. Mobs of specky bikes to admire and discuss with owners.

Phillip and Chris chatting amongst some very collectable bikes.
Time to leave with the course taking us to Collie via some great roads with no cars. Poor old Derek Gobby hit a dog and came off his A class Vincent on his first ride after three years building it. It won the best bike award. Broken wrist and bruises and bike with minor damage.

Then up the road a chap on his Indian got a tank slapper and crashed. 2 broken arms and a helicopter ride to Bunbury. The rest of the weekend was hassle-free. The weather was great with a stiff breeze keeping us cool.

Very rare American Yale motorcycle.
Back to Bunbury Moto X track for a great BBQ and salad and deserts, followed by a band playing old stuff.
Big bushfire near Picton had the choppers and planes busy all evening as the wind picked up.

Up early Sunday and pack up ready to start the second stage. Off at 9am and when we got to Henty Road on escarpment nearly got blown away with easterly.

Back down to Brunswick and wind dropped off. Another great morning tea and back to clubrooms via Australind, sat on 80km the whole way. Trophies presented and lunch eaten before heading home knackered.

Elina picks up Raelene’s prize for “Best Lady Rider”.
Bob won a trophy on his BMW sidecar (Classic Class Winner, 1965 on). Raelene won a prize on her first 2 day (Best Performance by a Lady Rider - picked up by Elina) and Garry Taylor won $100 in the lucky number board.

Another great weekend and highly recommended to enter.
