Yep, that’s a picture taken from the veranda where we were having lunch.
The house belongs to Chris Prescott’s family and we would like to thank
them for allowing us to use it on such a fabulous summer day.
There were over 20 bikes at the start, I didn’t count them all, but
there were a lot.
Funny how you can get Paul on his 200cc Triumph Tiger Cub and another
rider on a big cruiser or tourer, yet we all arrive more or less at the
same time on the shorter rides.
I rode my BSA 650cc, Chris, her ‘51 BMW, with Paul following, we were
all pottering along at around 75-80 kph yet on this ride we arrived at
the same time, as quite a lot of riders missed the turning to Cheynes
Beach as there was major road works at the turn-off.
So after watching riders disappearing in the distance along the South
Coast Hwy, suddenly they were behind us, I did have a bit of a grin.
Although I wasn’t grinning when some insect flew inside my helmet and
started wriggling around in my ear. Quickly followed by a small beetle
that somehow went down my jacket and inside my T-shirt, I could feel it
walking around. But anyway the three of us made it to Cheynes Beach OK.
The house at Cheynes is brilliant with a long verandah overlooking the
beach, which looked perfect. Most had brought their own lunch, but the
cafe at the caravan park provides a variety of food as well as coffee.
A great ride on a lovely day. Thanks to Steve and Yvonne for doing back-up duties.
