There was an extra large turn-out of members for the ride with
well over 30 bikes at the start. We meandered to Mt Barker via
Yellanup Rd (Albany side of the Porongurups), before arriving at
the Bakery in Mt Barker.
From here we rode along the Porongurups Road, nice ride going in
this direction with the Stirlings on the left, and there’s some
nice bends as well.
Then along Chester Pass Road towards Baker’s Junction the Clay
Target Rifle Club is on the right. It’s a bit hard to find, so
there were bikes going in every direction, even down the gravel
road past the Club.
In the end everyone turned up. The Clay Target Club had been
busy catering for their sponsors in the morning which ran over
time. But as they had food left from their BBQ we eventually
benefitted by having some of the left-overs as well as our
sausages which went down well too.
Then it was time to have a go at clay target shooting. It's
harder that you think, but a lot of our members had a go with
the help of clay target club members, including Colin Hinkley
and Dave Webb, who were very helpful.
Before long it was time to head home. Many thanks to Colin Hinkley who organised the day and for the hospitality of the Club.
