Ten riders started off from Mercer Road. John McK wanted to go a
different way to the planned route. He wanted to get “dirty” and meet us
at Kendenup for lunch.
His route took him up Chester Pass to the Stirling Range Drive, then
onto Red Gum Pass and finally to Kendenup.
The rest of us went via Millbrook Road to Narrikup for morning tea which we had on the veranda at the shop. They make a good coffee.
It was over coffee that we decided to head west on Spencer Road to the
Mt Barker/Denmark Road, then north to Muir Highway going west for a few
kms to Boyanup Road, then heading north again before turning east to
come out on Albany Highway just short of the Kendenup turnoff. It was a
nice ride through this patch.
Andrew was lucky. He had been on a mission all day. He was in “hurry
mode”. He just missed out on a fine by turning right on Muir Highway to
Mt Barker. If he had gone left the gendarmes were waiting.
Of course the rest of us being law-abiding citizens weren’t a problem.
We all congregated in the rotunda at Kendenup Hall and did the usual
social thing and told lots of lies.
It was four seasons in one day - wind, rain and sunshine, but it was a
pleasant ride with good company.
