On a visit to Grassmere Junction (just north of Warrnambool in Victoria)
Max Hawley came across George Taylor’s Hardware Store.
He was amazed to see a collection of over 100 rare and unusual bikes on
display. The bikes were part of Barry Bligh’s collection of bikes.
Barry Bligh established the Overlander stainless steel exhaust company
in 1973. At one time he was only the second firm in the world make
stainless steel mufflers, after the UK firm, Bakewell and Green.
The business expanded and now makes many parts for older motorcycles. In 2006 we made a trip to Philip Island for the MotoGP with a number of other Club members. Don Fraser organised for us to visit Overlander where we were surprised to see his vast collection of bikes, especially rare ones.
The bikes on display at the Hardware Store are part of that original
collection and well worth having a look at if you’re travelling in
Victoria.
