Wendy Walden
28 June 1946 to 6 July 2020

Wendy.
Wendy, my partner for many years, has been a keen and active member of our club. She has accompanied me on many bike rides, "weeks away" and club events.

It takes a special relationship to travel together and an even more special one to travel long distances with someone who will sit on the back of a motorbike. It was not all plain sailing however. We had the odd disagreement but even when I offered her a free plane ride home she refused and stuck with me. She even fell asleep on the back of the motorbike on some of the long rides, what a girl!

In 2008 we rode my old BMW motorbike, accompanied by Antoinet and Ronnie (Luv & Daal as she referred to them) on their motor bike on a 2 week camping trip. We went through the goldfields up to Newman, Karijini on to Exmouth and the Ningaloo Reef and home along the coast.

We had such a good time together that in July and August of 2010 we did a 2 month ride with them half-way around Australia.

We froze crossing the Nullabor to Port Augusta, then went up through to Uluru and Alice springs and on in to the warmer Northern Territory and Darwin. Then finally we went back home around the top of WA. To make life more comfortable on this trip we towed a little trailer.  On some of the more twisty roads Wendy would look over my shoulder at the speedo, which may have crept up a bit, tap my shoulder and say “Don't forget we are towing a trailer”.

We also did many camping trips, and were involved in many of the events with all the wonderful people in the Albany Vintage and Classic motorcycle club.

Wendy would listen and show interest to anyone, even to me when I rattled on about what I had been doing to fix one of my bikes!

She leaves behind 4 daughters and 8 grandchildren all of whom have benefited in their lives from her knowledge and love.

She will be fondly remembered. Love from Andrew.
