We had twenty-four riders taking part in the ride out to Anvil
Beach, which was good especially as it was a bit drizzly earlier
on. Having said that the day turned out to be brilliant, very
little wind, sunny and warm. It was good to see Phillip
O’Halloran who had come down from Kojonup.
First
stop was Elleker where we were joined in our coffee break by
Ronnie and Antoinet and Daniel who rode his 350cc Ariel from Bow
River. The owner owner of the Elleker Store is always
enthusiastic about bikes and came over for a look a couple of
times.
We then headed out past Torbay and Youngs
Siding before turning off down Eden Road - this has to be one of
the nicest rides in our area, especially on an older or slower
bike.
Shortly after we arrived at the beach Chris Sainty arrived from
Denmark on her BMW. After a walk to the lookout it was time for
lunch in the carpark. Later we headed back to Albany, although
Chris, Garry Taylor and Stephen and myself had a ride down to
the Nullaki Peninsular. The road ends up at the Denmark estuary,
a beautiful spot.
We then headed back to Albany. Somewhere on the return trip I
lost the oil cap off my BSA, which meant that I could watch the
oil returning into the tank. But I was pleased with the Sunbeam
Chris was riding as I had been having a lot of trouble with the
head gasket blowing and thanks to having the head skimmed (1mm)
the bike went well.
Thanks for Kim and daughter Carris for doing back-up duties.
