Slow Ride to Cosy Corner

Bikes arriving at the Amity tavernWhat a beautiful day for a ride, no wind and not a cloud in the sky.

There were some interesting bikes turning up at the Amity car park from Colin’s’ Panther sidecar outfit to Dave on the AMF Harley 350 trial bike! First stop, after wishing Marilyn Webb a happy birthday, was Youngs Siding for morning smoko or whatever.

Then a choice was offered for those that wanted a longer ride to travel down Eden Road to Anvil Beach and back, meeting the rest at Cosy Corner. We were informed that there was loose blue metal on the road, so be careful, it went as far as the gate on the peninsular. Apparently it was quite bad as some of the adventurous riders cut the trip short to join the rest of the crew who rode straight to the BBQ.

Gary Dibble’s beautiful 1965 Aermacchi 350.I went straight to Cosy Corner with the old ‘24 AJS plonking away beautifully, although when I was riding along I noticed that the drip feed glass was full of oil! This isn’t supposed to happen - I figured there must be an air blockage somewhere. So off came the pipe that runs from the pump on the tank to the crankcase. Hmm that looked OK, but a closer inspection of the glass itself showed that the airlock was in the bottom of that. After poking here and there we put it all back together and Hey Presto - the drip feed started dripping.

It was a most enjoyable lunch with a lot more talking than eating. Later as people took off home Max turned up on his BMW and Richard, who I haven’t seen for quite a number of years on his Le Mans Moto Guzzi. It was a great day.

Thanks to Chris for going back-up - which with half the bikes over 25 years old was not used.
