Economy Run

"Sometimes they go and sometimes they don't" - Barry's Triumph.TRY something different - Why not?
So how about an Economy Run followed by a BBQ at Middleton Beach?
The economy run was a little different to normal, you had to nominate your average fuel consumption before the ride. The idea being closest to their nominated average fuel consumption was the winner.
With ideal weather for riding there were 12 bikes lined up, with full tanks, at the Amity Tavern.
Before we left everyone set their trip-meters to zero, to compare mileage/kilometre distance by different bikes, this included Mike and Angie's car (which was towing a trailer for back-up).
The ride took us firstly to Kamballup where we had a short break, then through Mt Barker to the Porongorups where we had stopped at the shop before arriving at the Caltex Service Station in North Road where tanks were refilled, Chris took down how much fuel was used and also the mileage on the various speedo's.
Mike and Angie's car showed 161 kilometres and the results were based on that mileage.
Arthur was the winner with his nominated consumption being 22 kilometres to the litre and the result was 22.61 kpl.
Some rode at a sedate pace where others rode at normal speed. Interesting to see Linda's Ducati the most economical and she wasn't riding too sedately!!
My AJS tripmeter was way out - 28 miles out!!!!
Good to see Barry taking the newly restored Triumph Daytona on the By the time we got to the BBQ at Middleton Beach the wind was a bit nippy, but huddling over the steak and sausages we managed to get out of the wind, keep warm and enjoy the company and the food!
Later Marilyn and Clive provided coffee and bikkies etc at their home which was much appreciated.
Thanks to Mike and Angie for going back-up.
